Chinese new year is marked

A children's charity is hosting a fund-raiser to celebrate the Chinese new year.

Leicester-based Wishes for Kids is organising the event, which will include a traditional Chinese buffet and dance ceremony to bring in the year of the rabbit.

It will be held at The Peking restaurant, Charles Street, in Leicester city centre, on Thursday, February 3, from midday. Wishes for Kids grants the wishes of children who have serious or terminal illnesses or have suffered from abuse and traumas.

The celebration will bring together elderly members of the Chinese community and children whose wishes have been granted.
